SYNOPSIS: Tony, a convict and drug addict, desperate for a new relationship with his daughter and former partner, must overcome his past temptations and prove that he's finally changed his ways.
DIRECTOR BIO: Oisín-Tomás Ó Raghallaigh is an 18-year-old director, born and raised in Ireland. A film lover and film student he directed his first short film 'Attraction' in 2016 and has continued to develop his skills and make short films. His most recent short film 'Hindsight' was created at the National Film and Television School and was an official selection at 'Richard Harris International Film Festival, 'Kerry Film Festival', 'Belfast Film Festival' and at 21 others so far with 9 wins and 6 nominations including at the Gold Movie Awards and Leigh Short Film Festival, where he won the 'Best Young Filmmaker' award. He also produced a 35-minute film 'Grapevines' about vigilante violence in Ireland, which is premiering at 'Belfast Film Festival in April 2019. He is currently writing, directing and producing a short film called 'Grounding' which tackles issues around Mental Health which is partially funded by Northern Ireland Screen and for which he is currently seeking completion funding.
DIRECTOR STATEMENT: Hindsight, a film heavily inspired by the genre of social realism, tackles the issues of drug abuse, imprisonment and family. I wanted to make this film as when I got the script written by Dora Cowper, I immediately felt the realism and authenticity seeping through it. Therefore I aimed to create a film showing a real world, somewhat brutal scenario in a humanist way, not judging the flawed Tony for his actions. I wanted to simply lay them out bare, show the negative effects on his family and allow the viewer to decide if he deserves redemption.
