SYNOPSIS: Alex and Frankie, two aspiring singer/songwriters, prepare for what they think is a sold-out performance at the Barclay’s Center. As a camera crew follows their every move leading up to the big show, they soon realize the venue isn't exactly what they were hoping for.
DIRECTOR BIO: Steve is a director, editor, producer & visual story from Brooklyn, NY.His work at PBS can be seen on a variety of stations all over the country. In addition Steve has edited and produced content for Al Jazeera America, MSNBC, and was an assistant editor on the feature length documentary "The Diplomat," which debuted at The Tribeca Film festival and aired on HBO in 2015. As a director, Steve has produced numerous short films and digital series. His work has been screened at multiple film festivals and has generated thousands of views on various digital platforms. He lives in Ditmas Park with his girlfriend and a closet full of POP toys that are no longer allowed to be on display.
DIRECTOR STATEMENT: Living in NYC, one of the comedy capitals of the world, I just have so much access to funny standup comedians, improve performers, and writers. It's a comedy nerds literal utopia! I was in the perfect place to start working on short form comedy and sketch, which exactly is why I started joining forces with funny people back in 2010. When Rosababy approached me to collaborate on a mockumentary short film, I was absolutely ecstatic. I grew up a huge fan of Christopher Guest's work, and also I have a background in documentary film making, so I have always known I wanted to play in that genre. With influences ranging from "A Hard Days Night, "This is Spinal Tap" and "Man Bites Dog", I knew I was the right person who could help bring "People of the Pop" to life. It was an absolute blast to direct!"People of the Pop" was my 6th collaboration with Rosababy Comedy, and 3rd as a director. Keep on eye out for our first digital series in 2018.
