DIRECTOR BIO
Based in Brooklyn, NY, Bill Page has been making documentaries about painters for five decades. Bill Page has been producing films on accomplished artists for over three decades, many with noted international acclaim.
As a painter myself, I saw firsthand how important it was having films on artists and how filmic language brings an elevation to artists speaking about their art. My interest are primarily 'abstract painters' whose work has aesthetic essentials of Abstraction Abstraction, a major American art period of the 1940's.
Filmmkaers that have influenced my films are Sergi Eisenstein, Vsevolos Pudovkin, Dziga Vertov, Czech-American Alexander Hammid and the theorist Lev Kuleshov.
