DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY

Andy Wilczak is a criminology professor at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA. In addition to working in higher ed, Andy also runs a small literary journal, Untenured, which focuses on transgressive and explicitly leftist fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and digital art. Panic! Attack! is his first film.

DIRECTOR STATEMENT

Panic! Attack! is deeply personal to me, living with both severe anxiety and depression, chronic pain, and as someone who is in recovery from a decade-plus battle with alcohol. I hoped to convey how confusing and disorienting mental health problems can be from the perspective of the person living with them, and how overtly hostile reactions can worsen the experience and exacerbate symptoms of anxiety and depression..
