SYNOPSIS

A short film about childhood trauma and masculinity.  A young craftwork apprentice accepts a dinner invite from his mentor and finds himself in a strange and uncomfortably intimate situation.


DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY

Evan Galiffa - Writer, Co-Director Evan is a filmmaker and video producer based in Philadelphia. He strives to tell honest stories about humanity. His extensive background includes working with companies and clients such as Netflix, Showtime, AMC, and Jefferson Health. Travis Huhn - Executive Producer, Co-Director Travis is an accomplished cinematographer and editor who has worked with companies and institutions like Jefferson Health, Sanofi Aventis, NBC Sports, the World Series and the World Cup.


DIRECTOR STATEMENT

This film is the culmination of a nearly ten-year long partnership and friendship between Travis and Evan.  Evan has directed and produced short films in the past, but this project marks the first time the duo have embarked on a narrative project together. It's also the biggest film either of them have made. 


Sugar explores topics that Evan continues to unravel throughout his writing and work. The film challenges audience members to rethink masculinity and male bonding. It dissects childhood trauma and its effects on so many facets of a person's life, from mental health to intimacy and more.
